PageSpeed Increase of 80%

PageSpeed Increase of 80%

If you’re getting messages to « Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content » or « Leverage browser caching » using Google PageSpeed Insights, here’s a quick fix.

It takes less than five minutes and you can see improvements of over 80%. I am not a programmer (not smart enough) and have done this on numerous WordPress sites with speed increases each time.

It involves two steps:
1. Move Javascript and CSS scripts from the header to the footer. This is easily done using a WordPress plugin.

2. Include a small piece of code in your .htaccess file for browser caching.
